Part One: Panel Showcasing Research, Theory and Practice

​This panel will showcase the research, theory and practice that honor the intersections between hip-hop, healing and spirituality. This interactive and creative panel will not only highlight the work of the world renown practitioners, scholars and activists, but also present initial findings of a scan of themes and understandings related to hip-hop and spirituality, as well as invite attendees to bring their own experience to the table through the framework of the Cypher.


Part Two: What’s Next? A Workshop & Discussion

This workshop, led by Toni Blackman and IUME Scholars will creatively explore not only where the work has come, but where it will go next. Participants will be led through a workshop exploring the history, meanings and functions of the Cypher as well as be called to name their individual understandings in collaboration with a greater, universal context.
